Designing for print
I have worked on dozens of designs for print - from exhibition displays and leaflets to letterheads and business cards. I also have experience in providing artwork for promotional products such as mugs, t-shirts, pens, badges, carpet tiles and balloons.
To create most artwork I use Xara Xtreme Pro for the creative design, and supply the artwork files direct to your chosen printer in a format that they require - usually a PDF, EPS, JPEG or TIFF file.
There are some examples of my previous work in designing things for print below. All of these projects are actual jobs created from scratch by Digital Red and sent direct to printshops, often for customers not familiar with print processes. I can guide you though the steps you need to take.
Business Cards
The most basic of all print jobs, yet the most important to get right for a good first impression. I recommend RCS plc for printing your business card - if you have one of mine to look at you'll see that it has a matt lamination applied to one side of the 400gm Matt Art card.

Promotional Catalogue
A catalogue or brochure needs to be carefully laid out and presented in a readable way which is both informative and attractive. Often printed in bulk to bring down the printing costs, producing catalogues is usually done once annually so spotting mistakes before going to print is vitally important!
Download an example PDF of the orange brochure shown here - a 32 page catalogue for an inflatable manufacturer - printed by a local printer on landscape A5 glossy paper.
Letterheaded Paper
Balancing the deisgn of your letterheaded paper isn't easy - it's an important part of every business document you'll produce so it has to be well suited to a whole range of situations. Created intelligently, you'll be able to use your letterhead for letters, contracts, invoices and statements from one design: save on printing costs by having more copies produced to the same design, rather than changing it for each application.
Monthly Newsletters
These monthly newsletters were produced to highlight changes to a customer's website on a monthly or quarterly basis and printed in small numbers to be used in mailshots to new and existing contacts. Similar designs were run in the industry's magazine as a backpage advert.

One-Off designs and leaflets
Not all print projects fit into a category - I have produced artwork for odd-shaped leaflets, badges, pens, mugs, posters and even carpet tiles! If you can describe what you need, and give me the measurements for it, I can produce the artwork that you need. This pictured example (download a PDF copy) was printed on both sides of a "compliment-slip" sized piece of high-gloss card and was sent with every invoice sent out by an website hosting company.
Posters
These posters were produced to be used in phone booths and hotel guidebooks in London hotel foyers for a chauffeur service aimed at tourists (left) and diplomats (right).
