Fastmail Email
You're likely reading this page because I have asked you to open an "Enhanced" account with Fastmail. The "Enhanced" account is the top grade of Fastmail's four service levels, and is the package most suitable one if you have your own domain name.
Fastmail will adopt the 'MX Record' for your domain name, meaning that your email will go direct from the internet to their servers - removing your existing ISP from the chain of servers that your email has to chug through. You can collect your email from Fastmail using their webmail interface from any internet-connected PC, or by using Outlook Express, Outlook 2000, Outlook XP, Outlook 2003 etc. They also have excellent support for IMAP, but if you don't know what that is, you more than likely don't need it.
Fastmail have powerful "server-side" spam and virus filtering - meaning that you download only the good email onto your PC: over 90% of the spam and 100% of the viruses will be removed from your email before you even see it.
Click here to go to the Fastmail website. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and select "Sign Up" in the Enhanced box. The cost is US$39.95 (about 22.00) per year.
Once your account is open, let me know your login details, and I will enter the configuration details to optimise the spam/virus filtering and to setup your domain name. You may also need to send a fax to your current ISP - I will send you a Word document to print, sign, and fax off if that's the case.
